You know what goes well with books? Food. That's right, a little snack on the side of a great adventure or mystery and you are set for a fine afternoon. This week was national library week (and I hope that you all got out to your library in extra doses) and all week The John and Louise Hulst Library celebrated with raffles and a paper air plane contest. Friday was particularly fun with their first ever Edible Book contest! I felt very honored when they asked me to be the guest judge representing the students at Dordt. The judging was based on Best representation of a book and best tasting.
After a bit of  deliberation, we decided that Book-La-Va was the best tasting,
The Giving Tree won overall best book representation, and Harry Potter had People's Choice.

Overall, it was a very fun experience, but I will not be eating cake for a very long time. I think that I will just stick to a nice cup of coffee when it comes to reading an afternoon tale.

Thanks for reading!

How Can You Tell

Sitting at the Info Desk, trying to do homework, but my roommate is very successful at getting random songs stuck in my head.

Here is today's

A Door Opened

So this is it. I have been officially placed for the 1st half of my student teaching semester at....drum roll please...Denver Christian at the Highlands Ranch campus!

and this picture does not do it justice, but it really is a beautiful school. I cannot wait to see the students and learn about who God made them to be. I am so blessed to be going back to Denver, Colorado ( I happen to be native) especially because of the oppertunites, the awesome places I use to hang out at and ofcourse, PEOPLE! Literally. I cannot wait to hang out with my old friends and church family.
I seriously believe that God has opened the world of teaching to me (and I am still figuring it out. we have a love-hate relationship) but Jeremiah 29:11. God is who I am putting my hope in. I know that it is going to be awesome because he has made it possible.  : )

Love the Baby, Not the Dirty Diaper

A new way of saying, "hate the sin, not the sinner"?...Maybe. If you think of it though, it seems dead on. You look into those precious baby eyes, give 'em some kisses and then they poop. A big nasty poop that smells horrific as it wafts in the wind. First instincts? Hold the baby out at arm's length until it's mother comes along to take care of them. But why not love on them yourself? Go ahead, change the diaper...the crap is running down their legs already.

The video has nothing to do with dirty diapers, but it sure is adorable, no?

"Sips" Shoot 1

I don't know what it is, but sometimes I cannot translate what I want to see to the canvas. This is a part of what Kami, Mom, and I worked on today. Enjoy!
